👤 Short Biography

Dr. Kanija Muntarina is a Computer Science and Engineering academic and researcher in Bangladesh. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Dhaka City College. She has more than 18 years of teaching experience.

She completed her B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University in 2003, followed by an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the same university in 2005. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University in 2025.

Her major research interests include Computer Vision, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Deep Learning. Her research work has particularly focused on edge detection and shape extraction from images. She has published research papers on deep learning-based edge detection, including MultiResEdge: A deep learning-based edge detection approach and Deep Learning Based Edge Detection for Random Natural Images.

Dr. Muntarina has also contributed to research in Natural Language Processing, including work on Tense-Based English-to-Bangla Translation Using an MT System, as well as earlier research on image encryption and eye detection.

In addition to her academic activities, she has been involved with professional organizations, including the Bangladesh Computer Society, where she served as a council member.
