👤 Short Biography

Shubhrodev Biswas is an Assistant Professor of Bangla at Dhaka City College, one of the distinguished educational institutions in Bangladesh. He is better known among his students as ‘Shubhro Sir’. He is recognized for his student-centered approach to teaching, innovative pedagogical practices, and commitment to holistic education.

Mr.Biswas completed his Higher Secondary education at Notre Dame College, Dhaka, and subsequently pursued his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Department of Bangla at the University of Dhaka, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He began his academic career at Dhaka City College in 2014 as a part-time Lecturer. His dedication to teaching, patience, and innovative approaches to classroom learning quickly enabled him to establish a strong rapport with his students.
In 2015, he was appointed as a permanent Lecturer at Dhaka City College through a competitive recruitment examination. Over the course of his academic career, he has continued to develop as an educator and currently serves as an Assistant Professor, teaching at both the higher secondary and undergraduate levels.

His teaching philosophy extends beyond the conventional objective of completing the prescribed curriculum. He places considerable emphasis on the intellectual, ethical, social, and cognitive development of students, seeking to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to navigate the complexities of the twenty-first century. He particularly advocates for an approach to education that is connected to real-life experiences and contemporary challenges. In his view, the ultimate purpose of education is not merely to produce academically successful students, but to nurture responsible, empathetic, thoughtful, and socially conscious individuals.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Biswas has made significant contributions to the extracurricular and co-curricular activities of Dhaka City College. He is the Founder and founding Moderator of the ‘Dhaka City College Debating Club’, an initiative that reflects his commitment to developing students’ critical thinking, communication skills, confidence, and intellectual curiosity. He has also served as a Co-Moderator of the ‘Cultural Club’ and as a member of the college’s Counselling Centre, contributing to the broader academic and personal development of students.

Mr. Biswas is committed to continuous intellectual growth and lifelong learning. He regularly follows developments in the social, economic, political, cultural, and global spheres and seeks to broaden his understanding through continuous learning, observation, and reflection. His intellectual curiosity informs both his teaching practice and his engagement with students.
